"I was sexually abused at the age of eight but I didn't tell anyone until I went on an "Overcomers Course" [now called "Lifeshapers"] at a local church. It really helped to share it with others after holding it inside for so long. I went to see a Christian counsellor initially for 12 weeks but I ended up seeing her for 11 months as I had a lot of baggage!
We talked, prayed and cried until one day I could stand outside my abuser's house and put it all to rest. I let off a balloon and it swirled around us and went off in another direction. I left a bible outside that house and found the experience felt very small - it wasn't big anymore! The balloon for me was about me moving in a new direction. Jesus alone has given me Hope. I couldn't have done it and got through it without Him and some good family and friends." Anonymous
