Chris Wenlock writes: 'The play encouraged crowd participation with shouts of "Nail him to the cross". A cry that seemed descriptive of what we might actually say today of Jesus, if we were unaware of who He is. It challenged my response to Jesus. The condemnation he faced so we could be pardoned is encapsulated in the words of P.P. Bliss in his hymn "Man of Sorrows" '
In My place condemned He stood,
Sealed My pardon with His blood,
Hallelujah what a Saviour!
